Change a Little Life — Volunteer with Nibbles

Every clean pen, every fresh pile of hay, every extra minute of care — it all adds up to calmer, happier animals. Our volunteers make that happen.
We’re looking for kind, reliable people who want to make a real difference.

Volunteering isn’t just a helping hand for us — it’s a promise to the animals that someone will be there for them, week after week.
Why Volunteer with Nibbles
At Nibbles, we’re the only specialist rabbit and rodent rescue in South-West Wales. For the animals here, volunteers aren’t just a helping hand — they’re the reason every pen is kept clean, every bowl is full, and every animal feels safe.

By giving your time, you’re giving these often-forgotten animals the chance to live healthy, happy lives. It may feel like small, everyday tasks, but to them it’s everything.

And it’s not just the animals who benefit. Volunteering at Nibbles means joining a small, welcoming team where there’s always a smile, plenty of support, and often a laugh or two along the way. You’ll be part of something that’s both rewarding and enjoyable — knowing that your time makes a real difference.

Most importantly, your consistency matters. Animals thrive on routine, and when you turn up each week, you become part of the security they rely on.

Elliott was full of personality and loved nothing more than hopping over for a treat. Volunteers like Evelyn gave him the daily care and attention he needed while waiting for a home. Thanks to their support, Elliott thrived — and now he’s loving life with his new family.
What Volunteering Looks Like
Volunteering at Nibbles is all about giving our rabbits and rodents the best possible care. Most of the work involves everyday, practical tasks that make a huge difference to their lives:

-
Animal Care — cleaning pens, refreshing hay and water, feeding, and helping with enrichment.

-
General Help — laundry, sweeping, washing bowls, and keeping everything running smoothly.

-
Behind the Scenes — helping with admin, fundraising, or sharing our work online.

It’s hands-on, sometimes a bit messy — and often wet and muddy in the winter (wellies essential!) — but always rewarding. You’ll finish each shift knowing the animals are happier and healthier because of you.
The Commitment
When you volunteer at Nibbles, you’re not just helping us — you’re making a promise to the animals. They rely on routine and consistency, and every time you show up, you become part of the security that keeps them calm and happy.
We know life happens, and there will be times you can’t make it — but being dependable is the most important part of volunteering here. Even the smallest jobs, like topping up hay or sweeping floors, only work when they’re done regularly.
In return, you’ll be part of a supportive, friendly team who really value your time and effort. We’ll give you all the training and guidance you need, and make sure you feel confident in what you’re doing.

Who Can Volunteer?
Volunteering at Nibbles is open to anyone who is kind, dependable, and ready to get stuck in. To make sure it works for both you and the animals, there are a few practical things you’ll need:

-
Age: You must be 18 or over (our insurance requires this).

-
Travel: Our centre is just outside Eglwyswrw, so you’ll need your own transport.

-
Clothing: Waterproofs and wellies are essential — especially through the wet and muddy winter months.

-
Comfort with the work: Most tasks are physical, outdoors, and sometimes messy, but always rewarding.

-
Commitment: Volunteers cover one regular weekly shift of 3–4 hours. This consistency is what the animals rely on.
If this sounds like you, you’ll fit right in. We’ll provide full training, ongoing support, and plenty of encouragement (plus a good dose of tea and laughs along the way).
What You’ll Gain
Volunteering at Nibbles isn’t just about giving — it’s about what you gain too. Many of our team say their shifts are the highlight of their week.
-
Real impact: You’ll see first-hand the difference you make to the lives of animals who would otherwise have nowhere to go.
-
Skills & experience: From hands-on animal care to teamwork and welfare knowledge, you’ll learn practical skills you can use anywhere.
-
Friendship & belonging: We’re a small, friendly team who support one another — there’s always time for a laugh (and a cuppa).
-
Memories that stay with you: Those little moments — a rabbit’s first binky in clean hay, a shy guinea pig taking food from your hand — make every shift worthwhile.
-
The Canine Support Team: Our dogs spend their days in the office and take their role very seriously — they’re always on hand for cuddles and fuss (whether you want to give them or not!).
-
Coffee break included: Every shift has a short break with hot and cold drinks available — the perfect chance to catch your breath, share a story, and enjoy a biscuit.

When you volunteer at Nibbles, you don’t just give your time — you become part of a caring, close-knit team where everyone belongs.
How Volunteering Works
1. Check our current roles — take a look at the opportunities available and see if there’s one that suits you.
2. Apply online — complete our short form to let us know a bit about you.

3. Induction day — if there’s a suitable role, we’ll be in touch to arrange a trial day where you can meet the team, see how we work, and get a feel for the tasks before making a regular commitment.
4. Volunteer agreement — before your induction day, you’ll be asked to sign our volunteer agreement, which sets out how we’ll support you and what we ask in return.
5. Start your regular shift — at first, you’ll buddy up with an experienced team member until you feel confident, then you’ll settle into your weekly 3–4 hour shift.
6. Ongoing training & support — we’ll continue working with you to grow your skills, build confidence, and make sure you feel supported every step of the way.
It’s easy to get involved, and we’re always glad to welcome new faces to the team.
