Please Read Fully Before Applying to Adopt

Due to the ongoing corona virus pandemic we have had to make a number of changes to our adoption process.

  • Everyone wishing to adopt will need to demonstrate that the long term commitment and responsibility of pet ownership has been carefully considered. In time, life will return to normal and people will be returning to work, leisure businesses will reopen and lives will become full again. Most importantly, any animals adopted during the pandemic will still need the same level of commitment and care. Please carefully consider whether your family will still be able to provide a lifelong home before applying to adopt.

  • Before applying to adopt please ensure that you have fully researched the care and welfare needs of the animal, including suitable housing and diets. This will help you to decide whether the pet/s you would like to adopt will be a good fit for your family once life returns to normal. We have care sheets and links to further information here. You can also find helpful blog articles. We even have pre-adoption guides to help you.

  • Please do NOT submit an application until the housing is in place and ready for the animal/s. Information on the minimum housing requirements for each animal can be found as part of their adoption profile and as part of our care sheets and guides. If you have any questions regarding suitability of specific housing please email us for guidance.

  • Please fully read the animal's adoption profile. This will contain important information about the type of home they are looking for.

  • Before you start to complete an application you will need to have the following ready and available:

  1.  Measurements of the housing in feet and inches or centimetres and meters

  2. A photo of the housing containing an A4 sheet of paper with the name of the animal/s you are most interested in adopting written clearly

  3. A photo of a current driving licence or utility bill to provide proof of address

  4. If you already own rabbits, photos of their vaccination cards, clearly showing the date of last booster and your address

  5. If you live in a rented property, a photo or copy of the agreement from your landlord to allow you to have pets at the property

We will be unable to process your application if any of the above are missing and as a result be unable to continue with the adoption process.

  • Please ensure that you have fully answered all of the ALL of the questions on the application.  Once again, we will be unable to process applications which contain missing information.

  • Homechecks will be carried out virtually for the foreseeable future. We may well request further photos of the housing and/or arrange for a video chat to assess housing.  In cases where we are unable to fully assess a home via these methods, we will be unable to move forward with the application.

We would like to thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation of our new policies during these incredibly difficult and challenging times.
