Our Adoption Process

Our primary goal at Nibbles is to find the perfect new forever home for the animals who come into our care. To help us achieve this, we ask that anyone wishing to adopt follows our adoption process.  This allows us to fully assess the type of home being offered, and match you with the right animal. As Nibbles is entirely run by a small team of volunteers, we also have this procedure in place to make it easy for the team to process applications, and speed up the process. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and enables us to work more efficiently with very limited resources.

STEP ONE - Make Sure You Have Everything in Place

Before applying to adopt:

  • Ensure housing / caging meets our minimum requirements.

  • That the housing is in place and ready to accommodate an adopted animal, allowing us to proceed with a homecheck within a few days of your application.

Where To Find This Information

You will find the minimum housing requirements for each animal within their adoption profile and links to suitable cages, suppliers, and further resources via our basic care sheets and guides. A direct link to these is provided within each animal's profile or they can be accessed via our care sheets page. We do recommend that you read the appropriate care sheet prior to putting in an application.

STEP TWO - Complete An Adoption Application

This is purely to register your interest in adopting and allows the team to gather information about the type of home you are able to offer. Please provide as much information as possible at this stage and provide photos of housing.

STEP THREE - Home Visit

Once you have submitted your application, a member of the team will be in touch within 24-48 hours and we will arrange for a volunteer to visit you at home to view the housing and its suitability. The volunteer will then send this information back to the centre for us to finish processing your application.

STEP FOUR - Visit The Centre

We will then arrange a suitable time for you to visit the centre, and meet the animals available for adoption.  It is at this stage that the adoption form will be signed and the adoption fee paid. The adoption contract contains the terms and conditions of adoption.
